The Year 2 Team x

A New Chapter…

Today was a strange day with sad moments but many positive moments too. Year 2 have been saying goodbye to each other for now with circle time, games, stories and lots of hand washing! Over the coming weeks, the Year 2 team will be posting frequently on the blog, giving activities for home learning and opportunities to keep in contact. Today, the children helped us to make a list of ideas for fun, sociable and healthy things to do at home. You can download a copy of the Kingfisher’s ideas below. First thing tomorrow, Miss Armstrong will be making a cake, sitting in a tree, doing some Minecraft yoga and building the Titanic out of a cardboard box! Which are your favourite ideas from the list?

Forest School

It was great to spend some time outside at Forest School this morning. There were even more signs of Spring this week. We were treated to some lovely bird song by the Great Tit, Robin and Woodpecker. The birds were also busy building nests (as was Ella, see photos, very impressive). Mr Berry has been watching a Robin build a nest and lay four eggs. Today a small group of us crept up to watch the Robin visiting the nest to feed the newly hatched chicks. Mr Berry is keeping a careful eye on the nest and will let us know how they get on.

There was much den building today too, we were invited in to enjoy mugs of hot chocolate!

It was lovely to see the children working together and forming new friendships.

We are scientists!

This week we have been investigating if plants need water to grow, and how water is transported around plants. We looked carefully at slices of celery and found little ‘holes’ all along them! What could they be?

Ask your child what they found out!
